Daniel Hill – King of the Hill and Chief Cicerone

Daniel Hill

King of the Hill and Chief Cicerone

He knows Judo, Jujitsu, Sushi, Sake and at least 40 other Japanese words.

Daniel Hill is one of the original members of Nortel Judokai / North Texas Judo and Jujitsu in Richardson, Texas.  He started his training with Sensei Manmohan Chima back in the early 1990s.  Our resident “King of the Hill” raised his two brown belt children Corin and Jade as Texas Judoka.  Daniel has competed in “old school” classic Judo tournaments,  IJF tournaments, as well as, AAU National Freestyle Judo competition.  Today, Daniel is a Shodan, 1st Degree Black Belt, in Judo and an Assistant Coach at The Judokai (www.judokai.net) in Dallas, Texas.

He gets knocked down, but he gets up again.

Daniel regrets that he never stepped foot on a Wrestling mat while growing up.  However, he purchased a pair of wrestling shoes and made up for lost time by actively supporting and assisting his daughter Jade‘s Wrestling endeavors.

Daniel says he loves Judo because “I’ve been playing for 20 years and I feel like I’m just now appreciating how much I still have to learn.”

When he is not kicking ass on the mat, our Chief Cicerone is taking names of high-end scotch and craft beers, or designing the next generation communications systems.  His day job as an engineer in the telecom industry helps support his home brewing hobby and his passion for Judo, JiuJitsu, and Wrestling “the way it ought to be”.

Daniel Hill has credentials recognized in all major United States Judo organizations.  He is a member of the USA Judo and the United States Judo Association (USJA).  He is a strong supporter of the International Freestyle Judo Alliance (IFJA) and AAU Judo.
